Generals Reworking the Staff

It is a very exciting time for Washington and Lee football as the new coaching staff is coming together. Head Coach Scott Abell is very excited to introduce Brendan O’Brien as our new defensive coordinator. Coach O’Brien, a 2002 graduate of Norwich University, is entering his 4th year with the Generals and looks to bring new life to the defensive side of the football. He will also be coaching our linebackers in the fall and help coordinate our recruiting efforts. Coach O’Brien looks to play a fast and physical brand of defense predicated on our team speed and desire to be disruptive. Stay tuned for an entry from Coach O’Brien on his defensive philosophy.

Coach Abell has also moved Garrett LeRose, a 2007 graduate of Washington and Lee, to the defensive secondary. Coach LeRose has spent the last four seasons on the offensive side working with the wide receivers and tight ends, but is very excited about the shift into the secondary. He will look to bring an energy and intensity to the secondary tapping into a wealth of returning talent. Coach LeRose will also handle the special teams next season and his philosophy is soon to come to the blog.

As the staff settles into their new roles the Generals continue to work hard in the weight room with unfinished business as a motivating force.

Go Generals!
